Dancing with the Stars Virtual Gala Rescheduled to October 2021

Kincardine, ON: Dancing with the Stars, Big Brothers Big Sisters Kincardine’s fundraising dance competition event, has been rescheduled from August 19 to October 29, 2021 and will be a combined live and virtual event.

“Due to the provincial stay-at-home order, we have pushed our event date to October in order to comply with anticipated Step One and Step Two pandemic provisions; and to provide our dancers with time to rehearse their routines with their partners to be ready to compete in the event,” said Yolanda Ritsema, Executive Director of Big Brother Big Sisters of Kincardine & District (BBBSKD).

“Our five wonderful dance couples are eager to get together to prepare to bring our audience an incredible night of performances,” said Linda Johnson, Dancing with the Stars Team Captain.

Dancing with the Stars is a major fundraiser for BBBSKD, a youth organization that specializes in enabling life-changing mentoring relationships to ignite the power and potential of young people in our community.

Tickets for live streaming of Dancing with the Stars will have the option to include take out dinner from a local restaurant and will go on sale later this year. Stay tuned to BBBSKD’s website and social media for updates.

Background:

Dancing with the Stars debuted as a BBBSKD fundraiser in 2019, and plans for a 2020 event were postponed due to Covid-19. While some of BBBSKD’s usual fundraising opportunities have been unable to operate as a result of Covid-19, Ritsema and her team of volunteers have been able to successfully transition Dancing with the Stars to a combined live/virtual event, providing a much-needed fundraising opportunity for BBBSKD.

Local ‘celebrities’ have been paired with seasoned dancers to perform two prepared dance routines as they compete to win top place from judges Michael Rencheck, Courtney Nelson, and Carole Weber. The event will be live streamed and will feature an online auction among other fun ways for audience members to participate.
